Hearing the song on your opening page this month brought back many many happy memories of the Catskill Mountains! I specifically recall staying at a bungalow colony with my parents called Frieda's in Loch Sheldrake, New York from 1964 through 1966. This was operated by Frieda and Max Vogel and their sons, Herman and Leo. (Leo once shot me in the back with a bb gun when I was wearing a thick fall coat, thank goodness. Nice guy.) At any rate, their parents owned a hotel on one side of the street and the bungalows were on the other side of the street. Their house band was called The Steve-Warren Orchestra. (Orchestra? It only consisted of four college-age guys, whose leaders were named Steve and Warren. Ronnie Goldblatt was their drummer, and I did have a crush on him because he gave me my very first kiss and a broken drumstick to remember him by!) And, every Friday and Saturday night they would entertain us with "The Beer Barrel Polka", "The Pennsylvania Polka" and the! song you played that was being danced to on the front page of your website. What is the name of that song? Anyway, all of the older people would be dancing to this great music on the hard wooden floor, stomping down, and making lots of noise. Those were definitely the good old days! Best wishes for a healthy and happy New Year!
