It is sad that those Jews who insist on the Halachic definition of Jew include non-halachics in the 6,000,000 innocent victims of Germany's final solution. They are also quick to point out that Disraeli was the the first Jewish Prime Minister of England and that Heidrich Heine the great German poet was Jewish. But both had converted to Chistianity and Disrali at an early age. The Halachic definition would place the Pashthan or Pathans of Afiganistan and Pakistan (14,000,000) as Jews. The Taliban are mostly Pashthans. THese are 5 of the so-called 'lost tribes'. They call themseves Bani-Israelis or descendants of Israel but deny that they are Jews. Although they are Muslims there is a Star of David in every household. They observe the Hebrew sabath and the Hebrew circumcision and other Hebrew Testament customs that set them apart from mainstream Islam. So what if they have adopted some of the customs of the Moslems surrounding them for 1500 years. Have not North Americans, British Reform Jews and even Conservative Jews done the same in less than 100 years? The Pathans are an embarrasment because although they accept Mohammed as God's prophet the are more Hebrew (or Jewish) than 80% of English speaking Jews many of which or Jews in name only
