Yitzchak asks:

Why do we hold a pinky at the Sefer Torah during hagba?

Thank you. -Yitzchak"

Hi Yitzchak:

The extending of the pinky during Hagba as well as during the Torah procession through the shul is a Sephardic custom which I believe is intended to turn one's finger into a Yad and, through that symbolic gesture, having "read" Torah oneself.

Shalom.
