The Passion and anti-Semitism
I fully agree with you regarding the Italian PM and the ADA. However you should know a bit of history about the Catholic Church's love of Passion Plays. Passion plays in Europe were invariably followed by rages and pogroms against the Jewish minority. The mob was usually led by the local priest who encouraged the mob to exact revenge on the Jews for their crucifixion of christ. They deserved to be punished because had they not themselves asked (in the play) that the death of christ be on their heads and on the heads of all future generations of Jews. This follows Catholic scripture written 70years after christs death. I have not seen the film. But I have read reviews of reigious scholars who have read a copy of the leaked script. Gibson insists that the movie is absolutely factual and not a story. The scholars disagree and point out that the script is based on the writings of two rabbidly anti-semitic nuns. The Vatican disagrees with Gibson's portrayal of Christ's death. Gibson is not mainstream RCatholic. He belongs to a fanatical fundamentalist sect that calls itself Catholic but does not recognize the Vatican. This has nothing to do with the ADA and just because your pants are on fire over the ADA please do not let that cloud your judgement regarding my feelings regarding "The Passion". How many Jews will be murdered in the USA by assholes like the one that shot and killed a Sihk because he thought the Sihk was a Moslem and responsible for 9-11? (Sihks historically detest Moslems). Stan
Editor-> Dear Stan, I understand and support your concerns regarding The Passion. I was just trying to put these arguments about anti-Semitism into some perspective. Best wishes, Michael
