Re: The Bill of Rights Vs. The Bill of Wrongs
Dear Evelyn: Where did you get your info on the Bill of Rights? And did you notice you left out the Second one? And that you list Twelve "Articles" --they are actually Amendments and there are only Ten of them. I'm surprised with the PhD you apparently relied on your memory and didn't check your info. It wouldn't matter except that when people trust you enough to read you, I think there is a responsibility to be as accurate as possible. Please see http://memory.loc.gov/const/bor.html for the actual amendments. I believe you will see that your "very small nutshell" fell quite a ways from the tree. I have enjoyed your column in the past.... and look forward to your column next month. Best, Chris Johnson
Editor-> The ten Amendments that you cited are actually Amendments of the twelve original Articles of the Constitution. It is a little confusing at times, but to amend is to change and in this case it refers to the Articles. As for the second amendment, I omitted the Article to which it refers because I did not see its relevancy to the rest of my column. Thanks again for your comments. I hope you'll continue to read my columns. Sincerely, Evelyn Marder Levin Ph.D
