Gentlemen's Agreement

Friends:

I was interested to read in Masha Leon’s column in the July 23 issue of The Forward that Laura Z. Hobson, who wrote the book Gentlemen’s Agreement, which was made into the famous movie of the same name with Gregory Peck, was Jewish. The “Z” in her name stood for Zametkin. Her father, Michael Zametkin, was one of the Forward’s first editors.

Best,
Sonia
